| Synopsis:
The Troy Residence, located in warm Borrego Springs climate,
had a large concern about keeping cool. The design has
seven-foot porches to keep the sun out of the home where
the larger windows and french doors occur. The south facing
and windows outside the courtyard are minimized. The U-shaped
courtyard design offers a large protected area from the
harsh sand storms. In addition, the courtyard provides
a private exterior area for entertaining and a future
pool. The design also has radiant floor heating, photovoltaic
system, wood burning stoves, and clerestory windows to
allow rising heat to escape. |
