Projects > Hayes Residence

Location: Ocotillo Wells, CA
Construction: Straw Bale / Wood Post
Progress: Completed in 2005
 
Synopsis: The Hayes Residence is located in the Anza Borrego Desert, where the winters are warm, the summers are hot, and the wind can blow up to 70 mph. Cooling was the major concern in the design. Large porches were used around the perimeter of the house to keep the sun out. A rectangular design was used for simplicity of construction as the owners are doing almost all the work themselves.
